Public Television Issues

APTS provides advocacy for public television interests at the national level, as well as consistent leadership and information in marshaling grassroots and congressional support for its members—the nation’s public television stations. In keeping with our long-standing leadership in using new technologies for educational and public service purposes, the nation’s public television stations stand ready to make an historic commitment to all Americans through the conversion to digital broadcasting. Digital television is particularly promising for homeland security and education, from K-12 to adult learners.

APTS produces effective legislative strategies that allow local public television stations to continue to fulfill their individual missions as they make the transition to digital transmission. These issues listed below represent many of the fundamental issues APTS and local public television stations are currently addressing.
