Julie Andersen is the Executive Director of the statewide network, South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
Julie began working with South Dakota development department more than 15 years ago while completing her BA in English and Journalism from South Dakota State University. In 1992, Julie was promoted to Membership Manager and in 1994, was named Director of Development. During her tenure, SDPB was honored with the PBS Membership, On-air Achievement and Overall Development awards, as well as other local achievement awards. Julie was named Executive Director in 1997. As Executive Director, Julie is responsible for operations of the state network, which includes nine TV and nine radio transmitters, as well as nine TV and ten radio translators. Under her direction, the network has won numerous local and national awards.
In 2002, APTS honored Julie with the Grassroots Advocacy Award for her efforts in bringing rural broadband issues before the U.S. Senate. Julie is serving her second term as APTS Board Chair.
