DeAnne Hamilton joined Michigan State University’s WKAR as the General Manager and Director of Broadcasting Services in January 2004. She is responsible for leading the management teams of WKAR Television, WKAR FM and AM, and Interactive Video Services.
Prior to joining WKAR, DeAnne worked for 14 years at KQED in San Francisco, California. In 1999, she was named Vice President & Television Station Manager of KQED, where she was responsible for the oversight of a multi-million dollar division budget, the implementation of strategic planning, multi-channel digital transmission and the production of local and national productions. DeAnne previously served as the senior director for television productions and operations, and as executive producer on numerous award winning local and national productions. Before joining KQED, DeAnne was a producer at CBS affiliate KPIX Television in San Francisco, and ABC affiliate KATU Television in Portland, Oregon.
DeAnne currently serves as the Secretary for the Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters. She also serves as the Vice President of Pacific Islanders in Communications and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the University Licensee Association. DeAnne earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Washington in Seattle.
