The California Endowment is a strong funder of public media in the area of health. It is currently accepting applications for program-related investments, due October 6, 2011.
The Knight Foundation and the NEA are awarding planning and implementation grants in eight cities nationwide.
The foundation supports programs intended for national public broadcast to help ensure a diversity of viewpoints. The foundation has a special interest in youth and digital media.

Rolling Deadlines

This foundation supports journalism schools and media institutions in the areas of investigative reporting, youth journalism education and professional development.
This media innovation contest is seeking projects focused on using networks to convey news and information.
The Knight Foundation invests in projects that advance journalism in the digital age and in projects that strengthen the 26 local communities where the Knight brothers held newspapers.
Funding primarily in Charleston, WV and some international projects. Media grants have focused on journalism.

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors make grants nationally on a variety of issues.
Supports public media projects in the five counties in California served by the foundation. Priority areas include education, environment, community health, arts and culture.
This foundation awards grants for programs in effective governance and the environment. Its interest areas include media/communications, public affairs and citizen participation.
The William Penn Foundation funds projects in Pennsylvania.
The Wyncote Foundation funds projects nationwide.
